Employee Feedback Report

While determining who made "the list" is very exciting and extremely beneficial to the ranked companies, the Best Companies Group Employee Feedback Report is where the real value lies. All participating companies will receive the results of the employee survey, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of their workplace according to what their employees had to say. The report is used to identify the opportunities that exist to build a better workplace.

This report provides a detailed view of your employees’ responses to the seventy-two (72) survey questions. Part one consists of a data spreadsheets showing the percent of positive and negative responses for each of the seventy-two (72) survey questions, along with the percent of positive responses within seven demographic categories (gender, age, ethnicity, duration of employment, full- or part-time status, role, and department).

Part two is a listing of the employee comments transcribed exactly as submitted by employees.  These comments are from the two open-ended questions asked on the employee survey.

Part three, which will follow the publication of the "Best Companies to Work for in Central California" rankings, will be the benchmarking data. The Benchmark report will represent the average responses for each of the seventy-two (72) statements for all the region's list winners as well as against the overall participation. Knowing where you stand relative to the "Best of the Best" should help you prioritize resources to maximize your return on investment.

New this year: Employer Benchmark Summary.  The Employer Benchmark Summary offers a sample of company averages on standard employee benefits and best practices--for all participants as well as those that make the list.  This is a great tool to help benchmark some of the most common benefits offered compared to those of your organization.

Best Companies Group will be packaging and distributing the Employee Feedback Reports soon after the companies are notified whether or not they made the list. The benchmarking reports will be delivered later, soon after the rankings are announced.

Assessment Process

Best Companies Group conducts a simple yet thorough company assessment. The assessment is a two-part process designed to gather detailed data about each participating company. In part one, the employer completes a questionnaire and in part two, employees of the company complete an employee survey.

The collected information from the two instruments will be combined to produce a detailed set of data enabling the analysts to determine the strengths and opportunities of the participating companies.  The workplaces are ranked based on this data and then the Employee Feedback Reports are returned to each participating company.

Part I – Employer Benefits & Policies Questionnaire (click for sample)

Each company must complete the Employer Benefits & Policies Questionnaire (employer questionnaire also known as the EQ). The employer questionnaire is where important information is captured about company policies, practices and demographics. This portion of the assessment is sent out shortly after the registration deadline and is due before the employee surveys (Part II) are sent. Please refer to the Timeline for more information.

The employer questionnaire is sent to the primary contact electronically and is completed and submitted online to aid in the functionality and ease of the surveying process.

Part II – Employee Engagement & Satisfaction Survey (click for sample)

The Employee Engagement & Satisfaction Survey (employee survey) consists of approximately 72 statements that employees respond to on a five point agreement scale. The survey also includes 2 open-ended questions and 7 demographic questions.

The results are analyzed and categorized according to 8 Core Focus Areas: Leadership and Planning, Corporate Culture and Communications, Role Satisfaction, Work Environment, Relationship with Supervisor, Training and Development, Pay and Benefits and Overall Engagement.

Survey Process

Online or Traditional Paper? Best Companies Group conducts the majority of the employee surveys online. However, paper-based surveys are available at an additional cost for companies who do not have email addresses for at least 70% of their employees.

For the online survey, companies will be asked to submit a list of all eligible employee email addresses via an upload portal. (Best Companies Group will perform the random selection for online companies having over 250 employees.) Each employee will receive a unique Web-link via the submitted email to complete the survey. If some employees (up to 30%) do not have company email addresses, Best Companies Group can provide them with access codes to take the survey online. Click here for more information on Access Codes.

Please see our Statement of Confidentiality regarding the security of this sensitive data. All employee data is submitted anonymously.

Number of employees being surveyed

Best Companies Group will survey up to 400 randomly selected employees in a company depending on company size. The chart below lists how many employees will be randomly selected to participate. The chart also lists the fees associated with each company size.

We encourage all companies to use the online survey process. However, if online surveys will not work for your company, we offer a traditional paper based survey option. The chart below lists the fees for the survey evaluation process.
